'But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.'

Romans 5:8
Yes, that act allows us to come to God, we were dead in our sins when Christ came for us, so that we can have life in Christ. I'm not denying God loves us, but that it isn't just as we are, He wouldn't be setting out to change us, if it were just as we are. We have to repent, when we come to Him, why would we have to do that if it were just as we are?

Spot on.

I think that even if many people do not have this thought animating them consciously, it does animate their subconscious.

It is also that you see in the very rationale that people use these days, too. People say well, of course teenagers need to sleep with one antoher; they have that biological urge, and this comes to be a means used to justify all m ...[text shortened]... d.

I do not even think of my dog in these terms. Yet, people think of themselves in those terms.
That reminds me, when visiting the zoo, never walk past the monkey exhibit with children or except some rather awkward questions from them

Monkeys are the most unholiest of creatures, and is how the Left sees human beings.

Those that don't view us as mere chimps but made in the image of God would say that sex is not just a biological function like going to the bathroom, as displayed in the monkey exhibit. No, for those of faith there is a spiritual aspect to sex and is why they choose monogamy instead.

A husband may love his wife but still want to change her or some of her behaviours. Does this desire to change her mean his love for her before such changes is diminished?

Even when we become Christian the walking out our faith is a life altering experience. You have read the scriptures do thieves continue to steal, or do they repent? He cleans from our sins and enters our lives to conform us into Jesus Christ. He does not leave us as we are as a husband doesn’t leave his wife.

It is possible, even on a human level, to love someone for who they are but still want them to improve themselves. I'm sure an omnibenevolent deity would have no problem with this.

I don’t disagree that God loves us and to that end the Father sent the Son into the world so that who so ever believes in Him can be saved. If you continue reading after John 3:16 you will see that the fate of those who didn’t look at that serpent was they died, it is no different with those that don’t look to the Son, they remain condemned. The love God shows us is a way of redemption through Jesus Christ there is no other way.

No other way, if you're a Christian.

Other religions would disagree.

If true, and I believe it is of course they would! The same can be said about any beliefs if true, all of those contrary would be in disagreement.

In our reality we can vary in opinions about a lot of things, we cannot in others, you and I are affected by gravity regardless of our opinions of it. We may disagree on which version of football is better. God is not of the take it or leave it topic, the truth about God binds is all together no matter our feelings.

Problem you have old chap is that you are unable to disprove the beliefs of other religions. Indeed, If Hinduism (for example) was actually the true religion, nothing you say or do could change that.

When I find the answer to a sum, I don’t continue looking at why all other answers or opinions are wrong.

Yep, but if you have unwittingly got the wrong answer, (and lock up shop) you will never discover your error.

And the way to show me is, show my errors, not telling me there are more numbers I have not considered.

As part of your 'equation', Adam and Eve are important denominators that lead to the fall of mankind.

Your error here is not to realize Adam and Eve were not to be taken as 'literal' characters. This leads to a breakdown in your calculations, as no literal Adam and Eve existed to instigate the fall or cause original sin.

This is just one example of your errors.

Funny I'm thinking about the same issue, but it being your error. Adam and Eve knew the Word of God and went against it anyway.

“Did God actually say..."

Your rejecting the scripture, they rejected the Word of God right out of His mouth. The error was then, and is now, just rejecting the Word of God. Your telling me I shouldn't take the Word of God seriously, or some parts are okay, other parts are not. I'm telling you yes that was for the original sin, but it is has gone far into the human condition now, it is at the root of almost all sin today. People just do not take God's Word seriously, it will not excuse them come judgment day, the truth about the serpents is still in play, God gave us away to live, and we can still choose death.

Numbers 21 English Standard Version (ESV)
And the Lord said to Moses, “Make a fiery serpent and set it on a pole, and everyone who is bitten, when he sees it, shall live.” So Moses made a bronze serpent and set it on a pole. And if a serpent bit anyone, he would look at the bronze serpent and live.

Those that looked lived those that didn't, did not. It will fall out the same way with man and Jesus, those that look to Him will live, those that don't are condemn already. Condemn already means that the requirements for judgment are already met, and if you die in that condition, then your fate is fixed, condemned, you will stand with the goats.
