Divegeester. Look.

I am explicitly not passing judgement.

By "meet" and "know" in the context of a forum I am talking in online terms. I have not to my knowledge interacted in any way with JosephW. However, from what I have seen and read, I do not believe that his meaning is as you and FMF are repeatedly interpreting it.

in any case, I have already said many times and in many ways that I do not see you as an enemy of God.

Are you going to insist yet again that I show "courage" and say what I have now already said so many times? Where does courage come into it? You actually owe me an apology for all that, you know.

How do you ~ as a Christian ~ personally think the reference to "enmity against God" in James 4:4 applies to divegeester, if at all?

No, I don't owe you anything. This thread is about Christians (in this instance josephw) using the Bible to score cheap points and insult people on the Internet. I'm calling him out over it and discussing the premise at the same time. That is quite clear from my OP.

If you don't think I'm an enemy of God then I suggest you shouldn't have spent the last 33 pages getting stuck into me with the rest of this shabby lot. This is what I mean when I call you unprincipled.

If you don't want to "pass judgment" then I suggest you stay out of the thread altogether instead of looking for ways to imply I'm an enemy of God without actually saying it and yet without actually having to call jospehw out for what he said either. This is what mean when I call you a coward.

Either, stand with me on this issue, stand against me on this issue, or stay out of it.

What a strange fellow you are, to be sure.

It's your birthday. You know what they say about how you are on your birthday.

I've been giving you the benefit of the doubt, doing my best to make allowances for whatever it is that makes you want to pick quarrels all over the place.

I hope you have a good birthday and enjoy it in your own inimitable way.

This is not the clans forum. In here the contributors debate issues.

My birthday has nothing to do with it. I have been coming here for 8 years discussing topics like this one with other posters.

I have no intention of falling out with you or upsetting you. I'm sure you are a lovely person. But if you want to debate me about this topic then do so. If you don't, then don't.

Edit: I apologise for calling you a coward. I don't know you. But you are being cowardly and unprincipled on this thread about this topic.

Isn't 33 pages of going over the same ground, saying the same thing over and over again, enough for you? Demanding answers, failing to read them, demanding the same already-answered answers over and over again enough for you?

Do you call that debate? It bears no semblance to any form of debate elsewhere.

Extraordinary!

There's none so queer as folks!

On page 10 you said this about josephw's citing of James 4:4...:

"During the course of this thread, and in its title, divegeester is insisting that JosephW somehow "used" the Bible to "insult" him. It seems not to occur to him that the Bible in itself cannot insult a person. What it does do is teach. Divegeester makes much of the fact that he is a Christian, but reading through his posts he seems to believe that this means he is beyond criticism."

What "criticism" ~ you mentioned it ~ did josephw intend?

Here is James 4:4 again:

"You adulterous people, don’t you know that friendship with the world means enmity against God? Therefore, anyone who chooses to be a friend of the world becomes an enemy of God."

You said divegeester "...seems to believe that [being a Christian] means he is beyond criticism". What valid "criticism" [during that General Forum banter] was josephw making by using James 4:4 in your opinion?

Do you think James 4:4 is "particularly appropriate" when used in talking to divegeester?

Why didn't josephw cite it in a comment addressed to you if it also applies to you?

Because every single time you were asked a question along the lines of 'How does James 4:4 apply to divegeester's quip in reply to Wolfgang59's quip on that General Forum thread? ' you dodged and dodged and dodged.

What was the "devil's" role or involvement on that General Forum thread and why did divegeester need to be reminded to "resist the devil" at that particular moment?
