Yes, I was referring to the Jewish faith, not the ethnicity. As we know, any race or ethnicity can be a Christian. I am sure that most of today's Jewish faith is based on that faith passed down from generations and that of course some Jewish people become Christians, but I am most interested in why that happened. The Jewish leaders at the time of Jesus di ...[text shortened]... ewish priests witnessed Jesus first hand, and did not believe. That is what I find astonishing.
They explain the Jewish concept of the messiah and why Jesus does not fit that concept.

Even if they thought Jesus was not their messiah, surely they would have left Him alone and not wanted Him crucified simply by the miracles He performed. But.....then one would argue that it happened as it was supposed to happen. In the same way that Biblical scholars defend Judas......because 'someone' had to do it. The betrayal was in the cards before Jesus was even born a human.

Originally posted by RJHindsI've always had a problem with the 'hardening of pharaoh's heart' issue. If pharaoh could make up his own mind, then maybe he would have let the people go after the first plague. But, with God intervening and hardening his heart, it made sure that the other 9 plagues would follow.....which includes children dying. So, in theory.....God Himself caused the plagues because He set up the situation that pharaoh would say no to Moses every time. Rather cruel I think. But....I know.....forget that silly children dying thing.....praise God...praise God.

Originally posted by chaney3Don't forget that Jesus was antagonizing the Jewish leaders by calling them things like hypocrites and a brood of vipers and disrupting their money making schemes and drawing people away from following them through His wise teachings and miracles. That is pretty good reason for those in power to want to get rid of Jesus, I think.

What's more you tipped your hand of your intent to troll with "Ghost of a Duke" or GoaD:
goad, verb 1. provoke or annoy (someone) so as to stimulate some action or reaction.
Not that i need to explain my chosen username to you, but some are already aware that i was a site admin on another chess site for well over a decade with a Duke username. When i decided to leave that site and start afresh here, i did in effect 'kill off' the Duke; and it was more a private joke to myself to be a 'ghost of a Duke' here.
I of course don't want to be seen promoting a rival site, but am happy to send you further details privately if it will help you sleep better. I continue to have admin status on the other site, but am no longer active there.
