I've played the Damiano once Game 1902838 and I won...but I didn't know any better π.

Is there a name for this? π

Originally posted by ShinidokiQe7 gets the pawn back, white still is way better due to development lead and the inability of black to play Nf6
For white, this is a dream at blitz level!
White can immediatly go on the attack with Nxe5!
..fxe5? Qh5+ Ke7 [g6? Qxe5+ Qe7 Qxh8] Qxe5+ Kf7 Bc4+ ...
giving white 2 pawns and a strong attack for a Knight...
however, if black plays Qe7 he/she can win the pawn back (but a blitz very few play that)
Originally posted by SquelchbelchWell, it's a combination of Nimzovitch-Larsen (or, if you wish, Fianchetto di Donna (I do like these older names)) and Mieses; neither is highly rated, and the combination doesn't look any more active than the individual components.
Here's a tough one:

Well, I can't find a generally known name for it; if you have a creative suggestion, feel free :-)

It's the pawn structure for the Hippopotamus, but I'm not even sure of the move order, I only know the basic theory. It maybe the bishop fianchetto is white's 2nd move.
Apologies if it's wrongπ
It's funny that this came up in the Forum - I've just run into this defense twice this week and had never seen it before. I have to agree with calling it the "I like losing defense."
