@earl-of-trumps saidI look forward to listening to the entire performance.

@Torunn
They are a cappella singers. But here there is some instrumentation. And it is jazz. So nice.
@earl-of-trumps saidIt seems so effortless, yet so sophisticated. Amazing.

I listened to a concert a couple of days ago with music by Ennio Morricone - an Italian orchestra with choir on tour stopped in Gothenburg to give one performance. He has written so much famous, wonderful music to many movies we have seen and heard about. Here is a wonderful piece from the film Cinema Paradiso:
@torunn saidVery nice, Torunn, and the lyrics are nice, too

@sonhouse saidI tried to attach a video from the occasions he was awarded an Oscar but they were at least two. During the concert I mentioned earlier, there was a screen behind the orchestra showing the films with his music.
@Torunn
He sure has a wide compositional range, I remember the Good Bad and Ugly series of westerns.
@earl-of-trumps saidOh lord Satchmo. Wannabe jazz, doesn't even reach bebop levels.

I've been bingeing on Debbie Harry (in and out of Blondie) recently. For my next stretch, I'm dithering between Steely Dan and Steeleye Span.

THANK YOU !
I had forgotten all about Manhattan Transfer.
I put on some good headphones and was in heaven for 80 minutes.
May I suggest this to finish the day?

@torunn saidThat's nice. I like the video on stage. It enhances the music, I think. And they actually had a womanly-woman playing a manly-man's harmonica piece...? Oh my god, that's cultural misappropriation!!

Ennio Morricone - Man with a harmonica (Once upon a time in the West)
A clip of the film with Morricone's music. It's hypnotizing.
🙂
@earl-of-trumps saidI saw Louis Prima in Vegas in the early 70's , thanks to my dad who insisted I go to the show. His wife did the smirky "I hate you thing"...it was a great show.
@Dood111
Holy Cow, that was Louis Prima's band. Love it. Big band sound is awesome.
you've never seen the movie "COBB" look it up, the Reno Show they do in the movie is exactly what I saw.
