? Ive never liked Nxe5 4. Nc6 I've generally felt like Im selling initiative for material. I took it feeling aggressive.

4... d6 5. Ne5f3

? Qa4+ is better. 5. Qa4+ c7-c6 (not ...Nc6 Nxc6 bxc6 Qxc6+!!) Nxf7 Kxf7 Qxb4

Qa4 line better still, but I saw the c pawn as another attacker on c6 and missed the better version altogether.

a3 would have made sense

9... bxc6 10. e4

? I generally don't play e4. Naturally when I do it'd be a mistaken push. a3 is better here, I wanted my light squared bishop out.

d1 seemed the best move for the long haul. c2 protected e4 if I could get away with it, and b3 is a square I'm used to having her on in the english. I chose c2 with a "hope and a prayor" as I don't feel comfortable with an e4 pawn.

I missed Qc3 as a prospect.

I neglected Re8. My d3 push looks pretty lame after d5! So Bc4 was not well played..

?! I really wanted to move the dark squared bishop. My rust showed - as I couldn't prove to myself that Qxb2 is folley. (GP34 says NEVER take the queens knight pawn). He is right, Bg5 Qxb2?? Re2! and white chases the matriarch around while developing a powerful counterattack. (Try it)

Daft. I liked the discovered attack - I thought my opponent might miss it. Even if Rc3 I like Qa2 lining up for the shot, and I felt like if she got to b7 e4 becomes unbreakable and f7 gets pretty fragile.

After looking at b7 for the queen for so long, once she landed on c7 I thought many of the same tactics apply if e5! ...

and the game is over. Qe8+ Kh7, Bxf7+!! lose by mate or material.

had to notice the mate.
